VP Debate

Saw the debate tonight, thought it was basically a draw. I think Edwards had more to lose, so in that sense he won. He came off as competent, tough, and intelligent. Cheney gave a reasonably solid peformance, although he was back on his heels a bit for the first 10-15 minutes as Edwards came at him hard.

You can check out the debate online at C-SPAN.

Cheney made one HUGE gaffe. Edwards went after him on Haliburton and Cheney responded by telling voters to check out "factcheck.com" for details debunking Edwards comments. Unfortunately, factcheck.com takes you to George Soros' site. (Soros is the guy who basically funded MoveOn.org for this election cycle -- i.e. he is pretty much the last person that Cheney would want to promote. Soros' site leads with the headline "Why We Must Not Re-Elect President Bush."

Cheney meant to send people to "factcheck.org". The only problem there is that the first headline reads "Bush Mischaracterizes Kerry's Health Plan" (at least it did at the time of the debate). And even when you find the Halliburton article, all it says is that Cheney doesn't financially benefit from Halliburton as VP. It doesn't refute all of the things that Edwards actually said.

I figure that about 90% of the people who visited factcheck.com never figured out to go to factcheck.org. Major gaffe.
