9/18 Gallup Daily: Obama 48%, McCain 44%

Obama now has a lead that is outside the Gallup poll's margin of error. Why am I paying so much attention to this poll? In nearly all cases, the winner of the national popular vote wins the election, and in most cases the Gallup poll is accurate (within the margin of error) as of election day. Check here for the history if you're curious. Of course, in a close election it's really the states and electoral college that matter. But hopefully it won't come down to that (again), it's not very good for the system in my opinion. Someone should get a clear win.

"The Sept. 15-17 Gallup Poll Daily tracking update shows Barack Obama with a 48% to 44% lead over John McCain among registered voters, marking the first time that Obama has held a statistically significant lead in two weeks." Gallup Daily: Obama 48%, McCain 44%
