Battleground States Update

From the Electoral Vote site, here are the underlying numbers re: the battleground states. Basically, they divide all states into one of six categories:

Strong Kerry (≥10%)
Weak Kerry (5-9%)
Barely Kerry (<5%)
Strong Bush (≥10%)
Weak Bush (5-9%)
Barely Bush (<5%)

As of today, here are the numbers they give for "Barely Kerry" and "Barely Bush" -- i.e. the battleground states:

Barely Kerry:
New Jersey 4%
Minnesota 4%
Pennsylvania 3%
Michigan 2%

Barely Bush:
Ohio 4%
New Mexico 4%
Virginia 3%
Arkansas 3%
New Hampshire 2%
Nevada 2%
Iowa 2%
Florida 2%
Oregon 1%
Maine 1%
Arizona 1%

As you can see, more of these states are in the Bush camp right now.

This is the truly important part of the race, because it will determine the electoral vote count and thus the presidency. The national polls don't really mean much at this point.
