Gallup Daily: Election 2008
From Gallup, it looks like McCain's convention bounce peaked at 49% on 9/8 and has dropped to 48% since. Obama dropped to a low of 43% on 9/9 (from 50% just after the Democratic convention) and has come back up to 45% as of today. The difference peaked at 5% in favor of McCain and now it's down to 3% in favor of McCain. Just after the Democratic convention the difference peaked at 8% in favor of Obama. Basically things are settling back down and the consensus seems to be that things will become essentially tied until the debates (beginning 9/26) and then who knows. For what it's worth, I think it is important to note that Obama is the only one to have reached the magic 50% during the campaign.
