Palin's Speech at the RNC Convention

The consensus on Palin's speech seems to be that she did a good/great job. I personally thought it was fine, though lacking in policy/issues substance. Mostly it was about defining herself, attacking Obama, and throwing red meat to the base. How it will play outside of the base is yet to be seen. I thought her joke about a pitbull vs. a hockey mom was pretty funny.

I also thought the attacking was a little over the top at times, especially the part that made light of Obama's community service experience. Here is a comment from David Axelrod, with the Obama campaign, which reflects my perspective:

"Axelrod discounted Giuliani and Palin’s attacks on Obama’s community service. “This is what politicians do when they don’t have a record to run on but in terms of the community organizing thing,” he said, “I think that was lost on a lot of people and secondly they can demean service in the community but I think most people appreciate it.”" Axelrod on Palin
