Sara Update 9/10/03

Hello friends and family,

Well, it has been a long time since the last update. So, as Sara gets close to her third birthday, it seems like a good time for an update. There’s a lot to talk about so here we go.

School:
Sara went to two schools last year, which meant that she went two afternoons a week and Victoria went with her. Both schools were play based and Sara made friends, sang songs, painted, played with playdough, puzzles, a guinea pig, ate snack, etc. It worked so well that we did two summer schools, which meant that she went to school four afternoons a week and Victoria went with her. Same routine except that one of the schools changed with the addition of two bunnies, two chickens, fish and two rats. It worked so well that Sara is enrolled in the same two schools for the fall, which means that she will go to school five mornings a week from 9-11:30 and Victoria will go with her two of the five days. Sara says she’s ready to go it alone for three days so we’ll start with that. Go Sara!

Home:
Sara has her own room, a product of the remodel we did in the spring. She sleeps in her own bed from night until morning (daylight) and can sleep through the night. It’s amazing. She might wake up once, but a quick visit from Mom with a drink of water and it’s right back down. It’s amazing. Victoria can sleep three fewer hours a night and still feel rested. Go Sara!

Potty Training:
Sara potty trained over the summer. She decided she was ready and that was that. She has the occasional accident, but even her diapers are dry in the morning (usually you train during the day first and then move on to the night training). She wears underwear all day and she will tell you or show you she has to go. The process took about a week and we were pretty much all there.

Talking:
Sara continues to talk up a storm and her language has gotten very sophisticated, for example: “I like this bread, but I don’t want to eat it right now. Will you save it for me? Put it in the refridgerator so I can eat it later, ok Mommy?”
