Sara Update Week of March 25, 2001

I did not forget to send out the update. My email has been giving me trouble.

We got feedback that people would like to see some pictures of the things I am describing. We have added the feature. So, take a look at www.alanandvictoria.com and click on Update March 25.

Sara started sitting without falling over. She can hold herself up for about 10 seconds. She will even put her hand out to stabilize herself. She is also progressing with her creeping skills and crawling does not look far away.

Sara tried solid food for the first time this week. We put a bit of organic rice cereal with some breast milk as recommended on the box. Sara took about 10 bites with interest. She tried to hold the spoon and opened her mouth for more. We will try it again in a few days. We are just getting her comfortable with the idea (it's not for nutritional value right now).

Sara also started to enjoy sitting in her stroller without her carseat. That means she is sitting up instead of lying down and facing out instead of facing me. She can even hold onto the little bar and seems to really enjoy it. Before this week if you put her in her stroller without the carseat she would flop over and get squinched in the stroller's angles. Now, she sits up like a champ.

More stuff coming for Saturday's edition.

Love to all,

Alan and Victoria

Sara Update Week of March 11, 2001

Hello,

Well, Gamma (Janet) was here this week and everyone had a wonderful time. Sara loved having her Grandmother here and showed some new abilities.

Sara started to creep this week. Creeping is a pre-step to crawling. She puts her feet under her, lifts up her stomach and propels herself forward. It was terrific. She also started rocking this week. Rocking is when Sara gets on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. Rocking is also a pre-step to crawling. It is amazing to see her little body "do" so much.

Two weeks ago I sat in front of Sara and made a clicking sound with my mouth. This week, Sara has mastered the clicking sound and it is now one of her favorites.

She still loves her baby Mozart video. It's a video with images that keep a baby's attention (a caterpillar stuffed animal with a lot of legs, a metronome moving back and forth, a toy train, etc.) and Mozart music (simplified for a baby's ears). The two together are a winning combination and Sara can watch with enthusiasm for about a half hour.

All our love,
Alan and Victoria

Weekly Sara Update

Hello Family,

Since so many of our loved ones live far away and don't get to see Sara on a regular basis, I have decided to write a weekly email on Sara's latest accomplishments. It will also become a nice record of events to put in Sara's baby book.

If you got this message, you are on the list. If you think someone else might be interested let me know and I will add him/her. If you love Sara but receive too much email already and want to be taken off the list let me know.

The updates will only be about a paragraph.

----- Sara - Week of March 3. Since this is the first message I will let you know what Sara has been doing and then tell you what's new.

Sara can roll over from front to back and back to front. She can roll over to the left and roll over to the right. From her tummy, she can push up on her arms at a 45 degree angle. Sara has found her feet and likes to play with them, especially when she is on the changing table. Sara can hear a voice and look towards it. Sara can reach for an object, grasp it, and put it in her mouth. Sara can reach for an object in one hand and at the same time reach for an object with the other hand. Sara can recognize different people and reach her arms out to be picked up.

What's new: Sara has started to reach for a cup and can drink a little bit of water. Milestone -- Friday, March 9, 2001 Sara cried when a toy was taken away (she didn't care before). She wants to put everything in her mouth and is really enjoying her baby Mozart video.

More in a week.

Love to all, Alan and Victoria
